Bangalore, Sep 18 (UNI) Samajwadi Party Karnataka President S Bangarappa today demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the attacks on places of worship in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the Sangh Parivar and Bajrang Dal had damaged places of worship and attacked people belonging to minority communities.

The attack on prayer halls in Daksin Kannada, Udupi, Chickmagalur and Kolar districts were parts of 'conspiracy hatched by the Sangh Parivar to widen its base across the borders in South,' the Lok Sabha MP alleged.

Holding Home Minister Dr V S Acharya responsible for not containing the activities of communal forces, Mr Bangarappa said his party would offer all kind of support to minority communities in the state.

Referring to completion of 100 days of office by the BJP government in the state, he alleged that crores of rupees was misused for pushing 'false propaganda on the performance of the government' through various print and electronic media in the state.

''The state government had squandered the public money by doling out advertisements through media,'' he said.

The performance of the BJP government was 'zero' as poor sections of the society remained distressed, he said it had failed to keep its promise of providing rice to poor at Rs two per kg.
