Show cause notice to Ghazipur ADJ in Krishnand Rai murder case
Allahabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Hearing the BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case, the Allahabad High Court today issued a show cause notice to Shailendra Nath Singh, the Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Fast Track Court in Ghazipur, asking him to reason out why his termination be not recommended to the High Court Administrative Committee for granting bail to two accused into the case.
Besides, the High Court ordered him to appear in person on September 29.
The order was passed by Justice Vinod Prasad on a bail application moved by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the MLA's murder in district Ghazipur.
As per the allegations, the ADJ had granted bail to Krishnanand Rai murder accused -- Rammu Mallah and Rakesh Pandey -- despite a stay upon the proceedings into the case by the Supreme Court.
The apex court had directed that the bail application of MP Afzal Ansari, brother of Mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari be heard, but the ADJ had granted bail to two other accused.
The High Court had issued notice to Rammu Mallah and Rakesh Pandey, who were granted bail by the ADJ Ghazipur. The CBI had moved an application in the court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Rammu Mallah and Rakesh Pandey.
Krishnanand Rai was murdered on November 29, 2006 along with seven other people near his native village Goundour in Ghazipur.
An FIR was lodged at Bhanvarkol police station the very same day by his brother Ram Narain Rai.
The CBI was investigating the case on the direction of the Allahabad High Court.
