New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) For the second day today, rain and thundershowers maintained coolness air in Delhi, plummeting the mercury to 29.6 degree Celsius.

The rain and thundershowers, which followed a heavily overcast sky in the city since this morning, brought down the mercury in the city from 35 degrees yesterday to 29.6 degrees, four degrees below normal.

The rain and the cool winds blowing across the city brought Delhiites some respite from warm and humid weather despite the humidity being as high as 98 per cent.

The minimum temperature was recorded one degree below normal at 23.1 Degree Celsius.

Though only four mm of rainfall was recorded till 1730 hours, the figure is likely to rise with more rains forecast later tonight and tomorrow.

The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers while some areas may experience heavy spells of rainfall.
