PMK Leader takes dig at DMK Government on 'achievements' ad

Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, Sep 18 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi Founder-Leader S Ramadoss today accused the DMK Government in the State of trying to influence gullible public by issuing advertisements on its achievements with a view to garnering votes in the coming elections.

Speaking to reporters at his Thailapuram Residence here, Dr Ramadoss claimed most of the schemes listed out in the advertisements were decades old.

In fact, several schemes listed in the advertisements as achievements had been dropped midway as failures years ago.

The government was only trying to influence the voters in view of the coming elections, he claimed.

Referring to a scheme for the disabled, he alleged the special teachers for training them had not been paid salaries for months.

The scheme in fact was introduced in 1987.

Taking a dig at the 'Re 1 a kg rice scheme,' he said while the government claimed around 1.84 crore cardholders comprising 8.20 crore people would benefit, the total population in Tamil Nadu was only 6.20 crore.

The government was claiming more beneficiaries with a view to cheat the public. Similar was the case with 'Rs 50 for condiments scheme.' ''How could the quantity of condiments offered under the scheme be enough for a family?'' he asked.

Turning to centenary celebrations of Former Chief Minister Anna Durai, he said at the function to commemorate the event, the speakers were only praising the Chief Minister rather than remembering the DMK stalwart.

He also wanted to know how many people had really got the benefit from the slew of IT Parks and SEZs announced by the government.

Referring to the attacks on churches and Christian prayer halls in Karnataka, he said the government concerned should put them down with an iron hand.
