Man sentenced for life over murder
Jaunpur, Sep 18: A local court handed down life imprisonment to a man in a 12-year-old murder case.
On July 16, 1996, Ashok Kumar, Indra Dev, Kalu and Shyama Devi had allegedly stabbed to death a Sarai Parvan village resident Ram Lakhan Pandey over enmity.
An FIR was lodged and a case was registered against the quartet.
Additional Dstrict and sessional (II) judge Umesh Chandra Tripathi yesterday found Ashok Kumar Pandey guilty of the crime and awarded him a life sentence.
Besides, a penalty of Rs 10,000 was also slapped on him.
Meanwhile, the other two co-accused Indra Dev and Shyama Devi were set free for lack of evidence against them.
However, another accused Kalu had died.
