Fiona given final opportunity to show cause

Panaji, Sept 18 (UNI) Goa's Director of Child and Women Development Sanjiv Gadkar, designated competent authority under the children's Act 2003, today adjourned the complaint filed by Utt Goenkara spokesman Advocate Aires Rodrigues against Ms Fiona Mackeown, mother of Slain British teenager Scarlett Keeling, to October 8.

Ms Fiona Mackeown has been given a final opportunity to appear before the Competent Authority and show cause as to why action should not be taken against her under the Children's Act for neglecting her daughter.

Mr Gadkar, in his order, refused to accept the reply filed by Fiona's advocate, Vikram Verma, stating that he had not produced any authority letter from Ms Fiona Mackeown to be authorised to file a reply.

Advocate Rodriguese had in his complaint stated that Scarlett Keeling had come to India with her mother Fiona Mackeown, who left the minor in the company of one 'Julio' with the intention that the said 'Julio' would take care of her, whilst she was away holidaying in Gokarna.
