Education for disabled at secondary stage
New Delhi, Sept 18 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for introduction of a new centrally sponsored scheme of 'Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS)' in place of the existing scheme of Integrated Education for Disabled Children with an expenditure of Rs. 1260.80 crore during 11th Five Year Plan Period.
All disabled children passing out of the elementary stage (Class VIII) in Government, Local Body and Government-aided schools will be identified for enrolment in the secondary stage.
Estimated 5.20 lakh disabled children will be provided education in an inclusive setting during the 11th Plan period.
These settings would also be made disabled - friendly in terms of infrastructure, resource support teaching learning material.
