Basher arrives in capital, being questioned

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Soon after his arrival here today Ahmedabad blast suspect Abu Basher was swiftly taken to the Lodhi Road office of the Special Cell here for questioning by police and intelligence officials.

Joint Commissioner (Special Cell) Karnal Singh himself is coordinating the interrogation process, which began here later this morning, in association with the intelligence services, according to sources.

Mr Singh is being assisted by two DCPs and an Inspector.

Though nothing is being told about what all has come out from the questioning of Basher, sources said efforts are afoot to bridge the vital links missing in the police's 'breakthrough' story.

Just a day after the blasts the Delhi Police had claimed a major breakthrough and assertions of cracking the case 'soon'.

Yesterday's raids at several places in the capital and NCR has fueled speculation of the police having got further clues to completing its success story, after forensic experts revealed that finger prints on all the three defused bombs in the capital bore the imprint of one person.

A team of Gujarat Police personnel brought Basher to the capital on the request of the Delhi Police which wanted to question him on his alleged connections with the bombers of the September 13 serial blasts here.
