Ban demand of VHP and RSS a political stunt : Assam BJP
Guwahati, Sep 18 (UNI) Assam BJP today dismissed the demand for ban of the VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal as a 'political stunt' of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
Mr Paswan had raised the demand during a recent visit to Assam and said these Hindutiva organisations should be banned in similar lines with the SIMI.
Taking a dig at the Union Minister, state BJP president Ramen Deka said here, '' It is merely a political stunt. Previous attempts to bans these groups have proved no result. '' He reiterated that BJP national chief Rajnath Singh's demand for expulsion of Mr Paswan from the Union Cabinet after the latter remarked that all illegal Bangladeshis should be accorded citizenship rights.
Mr Deka alleged that the Congress-led UPA government was considering the threat posed by the jehadis as a weak one.
'' The government has money to provide Rs 1,000 crore as subsidy to Haj pilgrims annually, but it could not modernise the eight lakh strong police force by spending an equal amount of money, '' he added.
He pointed that the jehadis were fighting the terror war by sophisticated weapons.
He also dared the Congress to clarify its stand regarding the Hindu infiltrators from Bangladesh with the BJP maintaining that the Hindus should be accepted in the country's fold.
