TN: Veerasamy denies forcible eviction
Chennai, Sep 17: Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister and ruling DMK Treasurer Arcot N Veerasamy today denied involvement in the alleged forcible eviction of a family and to take over the prime land in the upmarket Nungambakkam area in the city.
In a complaint to the Nungambakkam police station, Mr Veerasamy said the complaint against him filed at the Station was politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his image in the minds of the public.
He said he had no role in the incident in which a five-member gang led by one Dhanasekaran, trespassed into a house, felled down trees and threatened the inmates to vacate the premises, allegedly on the ''orders of Mr Veerasamy.'' Following this one Murugesan, who was staying in the premises, had filed a complaint of trespass and criminal intimidation against Mr Veerasamy on September six.
Mr Veerasamy said he came to know of the incident through a section of the media today and some private Tamil satellite channels, which had telecast it yesterday and sought to distance himself from the incident.
''The complaint has been filed with ulterior motives and to tarnish my image,'' he said and sought legal action against Mr Murugesan and some private tv channels and newspapers which had published the news with poltical motives.
