Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib distts to have 'joint' prison
Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 17 (UNI) The districts of Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib will have a 'joint' prison to house around 1,500 inmates.
Disclosing this to mediapersons here today, Jails Minister Hira Singh Ghabria, said that earlier two surveys of Bassi Pathana sub jail were conducted but it was found that the this prison lacked the capacity to house a large number of prisoners .
The 'joint' jail for the two districts will be set up on 30 acres of land and the process is on to find the land, he added.
He said that besides constructing a couple of new jails the government had decided to upgrade the facilities in the existing ones. The jail staff would be provided with latest equipment to ensure security, he added.
