Jammu State Morcha demands census and delimitation

Jammu, Sep 17 (UNI) Jammu State Morcha (Progressive), a pro Jammu organisation, today demanded a fresh census and early implementation of delimitation of constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir before the Assembly polls scheduled to be held in October-November.

''If parties like Congress, Panthers Party, BJP and NC are serious about this issue, they should boycott polls until the delimitation of constituencies is done,'' Prof Virender Gupta, president JSM(P) said at a press conference here.

Prof Gupta said these parties should form a joint front in this regard and the JSM(P) was of the opinion that if all these political parties failed to boycott the polls, it signalled that they were misleading the people of Jammu region.

''National Conference misusing its 2/3 majority in the state Assembly in past against the rights of people of Jammu and has frozen the delimitation till 2026,'' alleged Prof Gupta.
