Bareilly, Sep 17 (UNI) Domestic gas will now be available online with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) initiating centralised services for its cooking gas, which can be at your door steps through an e-mail or SMS.
In its first phase, the company has started the services in Bareilly, Moradabad, Dehradun, Agra, Ghaziabad and Lucknow.
IOC General Manager A K Girdhar today told UNI that other districts of the state and Uttarakhand will also be benefited with the scheme.
Mr Girdhar apprised that the project got delayed as IOC office had caught fire, however, work is on at full pace and the services will be availed to the people of entire UP and Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, the conventional booking service would also be available as it is for ''Indane'' LPG customers on 0522-2310325 with Ghaziabad, Noida and Uttarakhand being exception, he said.
Centralised IVRS phone numbers have been alloted to each and every state of the country and the company has launched it's website ''Tomogas.com/IOC'' for the high profile customers, who just have to logon and the entire booking data will be available on the screen, Mr Girdhar informed.
He said IOC has also tied-up with mobile companies, excluding BSNL, for the gas booking through SMS and assured that BSNL will be soon brought under it's deal.
Giving further details regarding gas booking, he said the customer just has to punch in the city's code number before the gas agency number and connection number and send it to 52626 (Reliance and Tata indicom), 56789 (Vodafone) and 56465 (Airtel) for registration.
After registration the booking system would just a SMS away for the mobile users, he added.
Mr Girdhar further said that the centralised and high-tech booking system will not only proove blessing to the customers but will also help in curbing blackmarketing of domestic gas.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum Corporation sources also said that such service would be soon initiated by them.
