Village Panchayat Chiefs' plea
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 16 (UNI) The Confederation of the Tiruchirapalli District Village Panchayat Presidents today appealed to the Tamil Nadu Government to allot Rs ten lakh for each village panchayat for its development similar to MP, MLA Local Area Development Fund.
Confederation President Kudamurutti T Sekar told newsmen after the meeting here a resolution to this effect was adopted.
The meeting also sought adequate powers for panchayat presidents to finalise tenders up to Rs 20 lakh under the Anna Marumalarchi Scheme, issue no objection certificates for registering house sites at sub-registrar office and give representation for them in the district plan panel.
They wanted the government to withdraw the powers entrusted with the District Collectors to dismiss panchayat presidents under Sec 205 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act 1994.
