Sabarimala temple opened for 'poojas' in 'Kanni' month

Pathanamthitta, Sep 16 (UNI) The Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala opened today for 'pooja' in the Malayalam month of 'Kanni.' Chief Priest T K Krishnan Nampoothiri opened the sanctum sanctorum and lit the ceremonial lamps in the presence of 'Thantri' Kantararu Rajeevaru.

However, there was no 'pooja' today.

Regular poojas will commence from tomorrow morning with the Thantri performing 'Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam.' 'Sahasrakalasabhishekams' will be performed tomorrow and on September 20 and a 'Kalabhabhishekam' on September 21.

On every day from September 17 to 21 'Padipooja' and 'Udayasthamana Pooja' will be performed to the presiding deity. The hill-shrine will close on September 21 at 2200 hrs after 'Athazhapooja.' UNI XR CGV LS RAI2037
