Prez cancels Iftar Party due to Bihar floods, blasts in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 16 (UNI) The Iftar reception, scheduled to be hosted by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on September 19 has been cancelled, in view of the recent blasts in Delhi and the unprecedented flood in Bihar.

The President decided to cancel the Iftar party, following the serial blasts in the Capital, which claimed 21 lives and injured 97 others.

The devastations caused by the catastrophic floods in Bihar was also a reason for cancelling the Iftar reception.

Earlier, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had cancelled the Iftar to be hosted by him.
