K'taka to submit report on attack on places of worship

Bangalore, Sep 16 (UNI) The Karnataka government will submit a report to the Centre on the incidents of attacks on places of worship and attempts being made on religious conversions in the state, Director General and Inspector General of Police Sreekumar said today.

Talking to newspersons here, before attending a meeting on Law and Order situation presided over by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Mr Sreekumar described sending report on the law and order situation to the Centre as a 'routine process.' Referring to violent incidents in Mangalore, he said 150 people were arrested and the Chief Minister had given strict instructions to deal sternly with anti-social elements.

The state government has also provided special security to important places of worship in the state following attacks on prayer halls during last two days, he added.

To a question, Mr Sreekumar said the situation in Mangalore was peaceful and no fresh incidents of violence were reported.
