Kalia charge sheets 18 officials of his department

Chandigarh Sep 16 (UNI) In order to bring transparency in the working of Municipal Corporations and Councils, the Local Bodies department has launched a campaign to check violation of building plans/bye laws and sub-standard development works.

Taking strict action against the erring officers Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia said here today that under this campaign, 18 officers of various Municipal Corporations and Councils had been charge sheeted under section-8 of Punjab Civil Services Punishment and Appeal Rules.

Surinder kumar Garg, E O and Parlahad Kumar, JE of Municipal Council, Rama Mandi were charge sheeted for using sub standard material in construction of a road.

Mrs Kamaljit Kaur ATP (MTP), Tejpreet Singh ATP and Ravi Sharma, BI, of MC Ludhiana were charge sheeted for non-compoundable construction.

Similarly Jatinder Singh, EO, Paramjit Singh EO, Yadwinder Singh ATE and Rakesh Kumar JE of Improvement Trust, Phagwara were charge sheeted for non-compoundable construction against sectioned building plan at a plot. Rajpinder Singh JE, Inder Mohan Singh AME and Surjit Singh AME were charge sheeted for sub standard execution of development works.

Rajiv Goel JE, Kuldeep Verma AME (now ME) and Susheel Khosla, ME of MC Bhawanigarh were found guilty of sub standard execution of development works.

Devinder Singh, JE and Tarsem Singh EO, of Municipal Council, Kurali were charge sheeted for misuse of funds in construction of roads.

Mr Kalia said that strict action would be initiated against all these officers.
