Hundreds of students from other states protest against KU in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 16 (UNI) Hundreds of students from different parts of the country today took to the streets here protesting against the Kashmir University's decision to postpone the BEd examination, scheduled to start from today.
The students, studying in different colleges in the Kashmir valley, protested against the decision and said it was unjustified and ruthless.
They told newspersons here that they had completed their syllabus in August 2008 to appear in the BEd examination in September.
However, due to disturbances in Kashmir, they returned to their homes in different parts of the country, including Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and other far off states.
However, the university issued a circular declaring that examination would be held from today, along with the candidate of Leh and Kargil districts.
''After rushing back here, we were shocked to know that now the university has decided to conduct the examinations in November ending when the temperature goes down,'' they said.
They said it was very difficult for them to appear in the examination in minus temperature since they belong to states where weather remaind warm.
They said to their surprise, the examinations in Leh and Kargil were conducted as scheduled.
The students appealed to university authorities to reconsider their decision and conduct the examinations early.
