376 sheep units, 6 lakh quintals of milk production in Anantnag

Srinagar, Sep 16 (UNI) As many as 367 sheep units have been established in Anantnag district of south Kashmir where the milk production of six quintals has been recorded during the first five months of this year.

Official sources said today that 367 sheep units have been set up during first five months of the current fiscal year in the district where 27,900 cases were treated, 1,25,000 cases dozed and dipping facilities provided to 55,100 cases at various sheep extension centres functioning in the district.

The sheep Husbandry department during the period earned a revenue of Rs 1.72 lakh on account of sale of medicines.

They said over 6.23 lakh quintal milk production has been recorded in district during last five months.

About 10,900 births were recorded under cross breeding programme during the period in the district.

The Animal Husbandry department conducted 91,633 vaccinations, 1,09,098 dozing performed and treated 73,435 cases at various Veterinary Units of the district.

Under Poultry Development Programme, 171 Backyard Poultry Units and 183 broiler units have been set up by ending August this year.
