3 arrested for possessing of Rs 9.6 lakh worth Indian currency

Mumbai, Sep 16 (UNI) The Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport have arrested three persons, including two women, for allegedly possessing Indian currency of Rs 9.6 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off that a person carrying Indian currency was bound to depart for Jeddah by Saudia Airways flight No SV 751, AIU sleuth intercepted Mr Tase Mohammed Arif Mohammed Ebrahim along with his wife and mother-in-law on September 12, additional commissioner of Customs B S Nunwal said here today.

On searching their belongings, Indian currency worth Rs 9.6 lakh was recovered.

Mr Nunwal said the currency has been seized and the accused were booked under the provision of the Customs Act 1962 r/w Foreign Exchange Management Act 1999.
