Rajnath flays Cong for attacks in Orissa, demands probe

Behraich, Sep 15 (UNI) Accusing the Congress and other parties of targeting his party unnecessarily in the wake of attacks on churches in Orissa, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh today demanded a comprehensive probe into the whole affair.

''Not only the false charges on BJP should be probed, but the very basic reasons behind the mass conversion should be included into the gamut of inquiry,'' he told newspersons here.

Categorically denying the involvement of BJP into these attacks, Mr Singh said BJP strongly supported the probe so that the name of the party was cleared of the charges and real culprits come to fore.

''I condemn those who have attempted to tarnish the image of BJP by way of throwing its name into this,'' he said.

The BJP supremo, who was here to address a party rally, also sought to dispel reports of alliance between the BJP and Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in Uttar Pradesh for the coming Lok Sabha polls. ''The matter would conclusively be decided at the Central Parlaimentary Board of the party at a later date and all the speculative reports in this regard so far been figment of imagination,'' Mr Singh said.
