Minister warns Maxi Cabs against evading tax

Mysore, Sep 15 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Transport R Ashok today warned those Maxi Cab owners who are evading payment of tax saying that their licences would be cancelled.

Speaking to newsmen here, he said that due to huge tax evasion by the maxi cab operators the state exchequer was losing revenue of Rs 60 crores and it was decided to cancell their licences. The first phase of operation to nab such evaders will began from Bangalore division soon.

Referring to the Sub-Urban bus stand in the city, he said that it would be reconstructed with underground parking facility at the cost of Rs 10 crore and the work would start within a month after Dasara festivites. The city would also be provided with 17 bus stands at a cost of Rs 108 crores under JNNURM, as Dasara gift from the BJP government, he added.

He said that a truck terminal would be constructed on 16 acres of land on Mysore-Nanjangud road.
