Three rape accused sentenced to 5 years RI

Shillong, Sep 14 (UNI) A fast track court at Tura under Garo Hills district of Meghalaya has sentenced three rape accused to five year's rigorous imprisonment.

Justice E N Marak sentenced Bimal Das and Babu Sangma to five years' rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs five thousand on each of the convicts.

According to the charges, the convicts had raped two minor girls in separate incidents in 1999.

Another rape accused was also awarded five years' RI by the fast track court and asked to pay a fine of Rs 20,000.
