SC Judge, HC CJ trapped in lift due to power failure

Chennai, Sep 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court Judge, Madras High Court Chief Justice and their family members were trapped in the lift in the High Court building for 30 minutes due to power failure today.

The Tamil Nadu Legal Services Authority conducted a Mega Lok Adalat in the High Court campus to settle the 300 pending motor Vehicle accident appeal claims.

The apex court Judge Justice Arijath Pasayat, Chief Justice A K Ganguly and eight other sitting High Court Judges attended the Adalat and disposed about 160 cases.

After the conclusion of the Adalat, while they were alighting from the lift on the second floor of the building, power went off suddenly and they got stuck.

Policemen and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and helped in bringing down the lift to the ground floor.
