Kashmir's Plebiscite Front Leader passes away
Srinagar, Sep 14 (UNI) Senior advocate and Plebiscite Front Leader Abdul Rashid Shah passed away here last evening, his family sources said today.
Shah, 73, was closely associated with Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah during the Plebiscite movement in the Kashmir valley.
He, however became the acting general secretary of the movement after the Plebiscite Front was banned and all its top leaders were arrested in sixties.
Shah, a supporter of right to self determination, refused to be part of the 1975 Sheikh-Indira accord when the Plebiscite Front was dissolved and Sheikh Abdullah became the Chief Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir with the support of Congress.
He briefly worked with the Ghulam Mohammad Shah, former Chief Minister and Awami National Conference (ANC) chief.
