Srinagar, Sep 14 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today ordered an inquiry into the beating up of a lawyer by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Amira Kadal near here yesterday.

A police press note issued here said, police ordered an inquiry after a complaint that a lawyer Sheikh Sajad Ahmad was beaten up in Amirakadal area.

However, it did not mention who would conduct the inquiry.

Yesterday, lawyers in the Kashmir valley boycotted courts and protested against the beating up of some lawyers by the CRPF near lower court complex without any provocation.

Later, hundreds of lawyers, including Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoum and general secretary Shaheen staged a dharna in the court complex.

Raising pro-freedom slogans, the lawyers alleged that the CRPF personnel were committing excesses on peaceful processionists in the Valley.
