Heavy rains in 118 talukas of Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Sep 14 (UNI) About 118 talukas of Gujarat received heavy rains during the last 24 hours with several dams in the state, including Narmada and Ukai, registering a rise in the water level.

Heavy rains lashed Ahmedabad till late last night. Saurashtra and South Gujarat have also received moderate to heavy rains since last evening.

Ahmedabad received 35mm, Umarpada in South Gujarat 70 mm, Vadodara 25 mm and Rajkot registered 52 mm rainfall till this morning.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rains are expected in Saurashtra, Kutch and some parts of the state.

Rains in the last phase of monsoon have revived hopes of a good crop.
