Soz thanks PM for increasing the Haj qouota for J and K

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Water Resources Minister and president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saifuddin Soz has thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affaris Minister Pranab Mukerjee for agreeing to his proposal to enhance the quota for Haj-2008 for Jammu and kashmir.

Prof Soz had taken up the matter in view of the large number of aspirants for the pilgrimage from the state.

The Union Cabinet, in consultation with the Saudi Government, decided at its meeting yesterday to increase the Haj quota for the whole country by 13000 seats. Prof Soz was trying for a larger additional quota for his state, 15000 seats, at least, have been committed and the announcement is going to be made shortly, a release from his office said.
