Site located for International University
Thrissur, Sep 13 (UNI) Kerala will recommend to the Centre to set up the proposed International University at Mannamangalam in Puthoor panchayat of the district where 280 hectares of forest land has been identified as suitable for it.
After inspecting the land today, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran and Education Minister M A Baby told mediapersons that the District Collector had been asked to carry out a photo survey of the land located in the Thadiyanpara forests at Mannamangalam.
They said the Forest Department had expressed willingness to allot the land, for which it would be compensated by providing alternative land, the ministers said.
The proposed university, one of the two sanctioned by the Centre for Kerala, would be developed on the model of Oxford and Cambridge Universities, they said.
A high-level conference to be held on September 24 is expected to finalise land acquisition and other matters related to the setting up of the university.
