Employees oppose disinvestment of BSNL
Mysore, Sep 13 (UNI) The 18th Karnataka circle conference of the BSNL executives strongly opposed the proposals by the Union government to disinvest BSNL in the country.
The conference, in its resolutions passed today, condemned the proposals by the government to disinvest the capital of the centuries old Rs 4,000 crore worth BSNL which was serving the people sincerely and sell it to private companies.
It also opposed the proposed merger of Indian telephone industry (ITI) which was suffering a loss to the extent of Rs 2,200 crore with BSNL.
While the BSNL employees favoured the revival of ITI for the benefit of employees and the public at large with ever growing competition from the electronic equipments producing private companies.
In another resolution urged to appoint permanent its officers for BSNL to streamline the administration to cope with the ever growing demand. The 3.5 Lakh employees in the BSNL were catering to the needs of 3.51 crore land line subscribers and 1.78 crore mobile users and as such it needs all its officials who are working on temporary basis to regularise.
