City set for Ganesh Idol Immersion tomorrow

Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) This teeming metropolis is all geared up for the mega event of Ganesha Idol immersion tomorrow, culminating the ten day Ganeshotsav with the police making tight security arranements at 82 places where immersions would take place.

Following e-mail threats from terrorist groups the police have left no stone unturned to enable immersion ceremony pass off peacefully. Besides the city cops, ten companies of State Reserve Police have been deployed to meet any eventuality.

Road Traffic at several points where the Ganesha idol processions would take place would be diverted or closed tomorrow, Police said.

At Girgaum Chaupaty, where majority of Sarvajanik (public) Ganesh Idols would be immersed, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have installed five close circuit television sets to have a constant vigil..

The corporation have also made an arrangment of 65 motor boats, 500 life saving guards, 6,OOO volunteers, 65 first aid, 65 ambulance and fifteen toilets.

For the immersion of small idols, the corporation have made an arrangement of 25 artificial ponds in the city.
