Business activities paralysed in Srinagar
Srinagar, Sep 13 (UNI) Business and other activities in most areas of the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir remained paralysed since yesterday afternoon, though there was no strike call for today.
Shops and business establishments in busy business centres in the civil lines, including historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, Budshah Chowk, Hari Singh High Street (HSHS), Jehangir Chowk.
Maisuma, Amira Kadal, Red cross road, Exchange road, Exhibition road and Gaw Kadal remained closed.
Banks and other commercial establishments in these areas also remained closed.
However, traffic was plying normally in these areas.
Official sources said that security forces deployed in the Lal Chowk did not allow the shopkeepers to open their establishments today.
They said about a dozen persons, including lawyers, were injured when security forces beat them with lathis at Lal Chowk, court road and near Gurdwara today.
However, situation elsewhere in the city was normal and all educational institutions were functioning normally.
