K'taka: AIIEA warns nation wide strike
Udupi, Sep 13: All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA) President Amanulla Khan on Saturday, Sep 13 warned that employees of the LIC of India and GIC would go on a nationwide token strike on the next day of the commencement of winter session of Parliament if the Centre tables the proposed Comprehensive Insurance Amendment Bill on the opening day of the session, beginning October 17.
Inaugurating a conference of the AIIEA here, he alleged that the Bill was aimed to benefit the Multi-National Corporations (MNCs).
Opposing the government decision to raise the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the insurance sector from 26 per cent to 49 per cent, he alleged that the economic reforms of the government were not aimed at the welfare of the commonman but for strengthening the MNCs by weakening the Public Sector Units (PSUs).
