Priyanka, ray of hope for congressmen in Sultanpur
Sultanpur, Sep 12 (UNI) Even as congressmen of Amethi have stopped perceiving Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as their representative, Sultanpur is still hopeful that the Congress star campaigner would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from their constituency.
Congress was progressing on the lines of pitting Union Minister Sanjay Singh's wife and MLA Amita Singh from Sultanpur constituency.
However, Sultanpur Congress district committee general secretary Srinath Verma had already wrote a letter to the Congress chief and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi proposing Priyanka's name for the Sultanpur seat.
Anticipating that Mrs Vadra would revive the present party senario, Congressmen were adamantly working to bring her in the political mainstream.
Mrs Vadra was not only the first choice of congressmen from Sultanpur and Rae Bareli, but the big shots of political world lauds her poll management and count her among the strong contenders.
Mr Verma said if Priyanka is pitted from Sultanpur in the upcoming polls, it would benefit the party multi-facetedly.
Priyanka with her dynamic personality would not only motivate the candidates of nearby district, but also help them in achieving success in the poll through her ''Vijay Mantra.'' However, Mr Verma had also left the way open for Gandhi family's close associate and Union Minister Captain Satish Sharma, if Priyanka was reluctant to contest the polls.
Meanwhile, UP Congress secretary Shaheen Akhtar today said if the congress star campaigner fights the election, victory would be unavoidable.
He further said, though Mrs Vadra had refused to be part of active politics in the past, he was not disheartened and hopeful for her joining the battle.
