Livestock to come under national focus tomorrow
New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI) Livestock sector, which contributes 5.3 per cent to India's gross domestic product, will come under focus at a conference of state ministers of animal husbandry and dairying being held here tomorrow.
The conference has been convened to devise a strategy for accelerated growth in the livestock sector, agriculture ministry said today.
Contribution of livestock to agriculture GDP was 23.8 per cent in 2002- 2003.
Being inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, the conference will also be attended by experts in fields of veterinary and animal sciences, the ministry added.
