JKNPP starts signature campaign supporting delimitation
Jammu, Sep 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) is going to launch a week-long signature campaign in support of the delimitation from here tomorrow, official spokesman said.
''Ten lakh signatures would be collected in one week in support of delimitation of constituencies before holding Assembly election scheduled in 2008,'' the party spokesman told UNI.
However, the senior leaders of JKNPP said that delimitation of assembly constituencies is mandatory under the Constitution after every census.
The last census was held in 2001 while parties including Congress and PDP had signed a CMP (Common Minimum Programme) with JKNPP Chairman Prof. Bhim Singh to constitute a Delimitation Commission in October 2002.
The signature campaign would be launched at all districts of the region while the party has also moved a writ petition in the High Court demanding delimitation, the spokesman added.
