Gadkari demands CBI probe into distribution of farmers' packages

Nagpur, Sep 12 (UNI) Alleging misappropriation of funds under the compensation packages meant for the kin of farmers by many MPs and MLAs of the Vidarbha region, Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari today demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Talking to newspersons at a news conference here, Mr Gadkari alleged gross misappropriation was noticed in the distribution of packages provided by the Prime Minister and Chief Minister to the families of the farmers of Vidarbha region who committed suicide.

The information was obtained under the Right to Information Act by a journalist through the Animal Husbandary Department in Yavatmal, he said.

Claiming that the beneficiaries of the misappropriation included many MPs and MLAs of the region, a similar information could also be made available from other parts of the region, Mr Gadkari demanded CBI probe in the case.
