Utt Goenkara lodges criminal complaint against education minister

Panaji, Sep 11 (UNI) Goan NGO Utt Goenkara spokesman Adv Aires Rodrigues today lodged an FIR with the Panaji Police Station against Education Minister Mr Atanasio (Babus) Monserrate for allegedly filing a false affidavit in May last year before the election commission, stating that he had passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.

Seeking immediate investigation into the alleged filing of the false affidavit by the Minister, to contest the general elections, stating that he had passed the SSC examination at St Theresa's High School in Mumbai, Mr Rodrigues said that the Minister had only passed class seven.

Quoting a letter he had received from the headmaster of the Bandra school, Mr Rodrigues said Mr Monserrate was admitted to St Theresa's High School, Bandra on June 19, 1975 in class six and had left the school halfway on September 7, 1978 while in class eight.

Mr Monserrate had made a signed statement to the Secretary of the Goa Legislative Assembly to the effect that he had passed S.Y.BA and this was subsequently published on the website of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr Rodrigues said.
