Stop resurgence of surrender militants in Kashmir, PDP
Srinagar, Sep 11 (UNI) Expressing concern over the atrocities being committed by the 'Ikhwanis' (surrendered militants), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said their resurgence will further alienate people in Kashmir.
In a statement here today PDP senior leaders Sartaj Madni and Peerzada Mansoor Hussain have expressed their concern over the resurgence of 'Ikhwanis' in Anantnag.
They warned that resurfacing of these 'Ikhwanis', working with different security agencies, would only add fuel to fire.
Without naming anyone they said some agencies were trying to breathe life into the renegades so that an atmosphere favorable to their vested interests is created before the ensuing elections.
However, the PDP leader warned that such an adverse move would not only vitiate the peace and tranquility achieved after the hectic efforts, but would also add up to the sufferings of people.
They said rein of terror unleashed by state sponsored 'Ikhwanis' in late 1990's had aggravated the situation in Kashmir, where people would think hundred times, before coming out of their homes.
Similar attempt was being made to terrorise people through tacit support to the agencies of terrorism like 'Ikhwanis.' These leaders have also expressed concern on frequent crackdowns carried out by security forces in Anantnag town and its adjoining areas.
They have urged the administration to immediately intervene before the sponsored agents of terror wreck havoc on people in South Kashmir.
