Heikru Hidongba boat festival held in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 11: Heikru Hidongba, a boat festival, was held at Thangapat, Sagolband, here.

Gooseberries (amla), known as Heikru in Manipuri, are offered to Lord Bijoygovinda and a boat race is held at the Thangapat, a moat, as part of the festival.

The festival is held in the month of August and September every year.

Hundreds of people came to witness the colourful boat race. The idol of Lord Bijoygovinda is kept at the moat during the celebrations.
