HC rejects bail application of Gorakhpur sex racket accused

Allahabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today rejected the bail application of the four accused in Gorakhpur sex racket.

Justice Ravindra Singh rejected the bail application of the accused Amarjeet, Shalini, Pragati and Vijai Laxmi after the counsel appearing for the state of UP agreed that the accused had committed social crime as they had blackmailed the girls for making blue films.

On May 23, the circle officer (CO), Cantt of Gorakhpur had unearthed the blue film racket and lodged an FIR at police station Shahganj Gorakhpur against chief engineer railway R K Mehta, Gyan Prakash Srivastava, Amarjeet, Dharmendra, Chadha, Sudhir Saxena, Manoj Gupta, Shalini, Pragati, Vijay Laxmi and others.

The FIR was lodged against them under various sections of immoral Traffic Act and under section 366A, 392 IPC, including 314 of Copyright Act.

The accused were running a blue film racket in Gorakhpur by blackmailing teenagers. The gang had railway employees, including a chief engineer and some prominent city businessmen.

Earlier, the lower court had rejected the bail applications of the four accused.
