Haryana earmarks Rs 235 cr for Horticulture Deptt
Chandigarh, Sep 11 (UNI) The Haryana government has allocated a budget of Rs 235 crore to the Horticulture Department for focusing on need-based programmes for cultivation of horticultural crops in the state.
Haryana Horticulture Department Director Satyavir Singh stated this in his presidential address in the national seminar on 'Recent Trends in Research on Spices and Aromatic Plants' being held at Chaudhary CCS Agricultural University, Hisar.
He said provision for grant of subsidy to the tune of Rs 11,250 per hectare was made for cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants in Haryana.
He urged university scientists to take up need-based researches and seed production programme so that the department could get adequate quantity seed of these crops from the university.
He said that with the launch of National Mission on Horticulture and nine state plan schemes, the programmes on floriculture, seed production of these crops and germplasm bank had been taken up.
The Department had made provision for grant of subsidy to the tune of 10 lakhs each for construction of Community Water Tanks by the farmers.
