Three vintage cars of erstwhile Gondal princely state selected

Rajkot, Sep 10 (UNI) Three vintage cars of erswhile princely state of Gondal in the district have been chosen for India's first International Concours D'Elegance, to be held in Mumbai from October 31 to November two.

Talking to UNI over phone from Gondal, Durgesh Jadeja, family friend of Maharaja Saheb Jyotindrasinhji, erstwhile rulers of Gondal, said Cartier International will host the three-day exhibition. For which, it has selected three vintage cars of Jyotindrasinhji.

Mr Mark Shand of Cartiar International (who is also the brother-in -law of Prince Charles), Ms Aline Conquelle, a journalist with the Paris Match magazine, and Manvendra Singh, the Maharaja of Barwani (Madhya Pradesh), India's most respected and experienced classic car expert, visited the Gondal palace on Monday and selected three cars for the exhibition, Mr Jadeja said.

The selected cars include Packard 120(1935 model), Mercedes 300 SL (1968 model) and Delage D8 (1969 model), he added.

The Gondal Royal family is known to be automobile aficionados and has more than 34 vintage cars in their collections and all are in working conditions, he said.
