Consumer Court asks Reliance Insurance to pay Rs 5000 compensation
Jalandhar, Sep 10 (UNI) District Consumer Forum today ordered Reliance Insurance to pay a compensation of Rs 5,000 besides 75 per cent of the deposited premium to a customer for not disclosing important facts to the complainant.
Jagtar Singh, a resident of Shaheed Babbu Labh Singh Nagar, had purchased an insurance cover for his jeep and deposited a premium of Rs 26,567 for the period of September 21, 2006 to September 20, 2007.
However, when he found some anomalies in the insurance aggrements and suspected that company had not disclosed all the facts regarding the insurance policy, he registered his complaint in the District Consumer Court, alleging that he had taken third party and accidental insurance but company did not consider his demand and insured the vehicle in some other scheme.
Consumer Forum president M M Bhalla and member Rakesh Kumari, after listening to both the parties, ordered the company to pay compensation to the complainant of Rs 5,000 besides 75 per cent of the deposited premium.
