Parents ''abduct'' newly-wed daughter in full police view

Kapurthala Sep 9 (UNI) Parents of a newly-married daughter, who had married against their wishes, forcibly abducted her from outside the office of SSP here today despite the presence of security guards and CCTVs, when the couple had gone to seek police protection.

Police has registered a case of abduction against the parents and some relatives under section 364 IPC on the complaint of the abducted Kulwinder Kaur's husband Didar Singh, a resident of Sunder Nagar locality here.

According to Didar Singh, he and Kulwinder Kaur, a resident of village Meeran of Sultanpur Lodhi, had got their marriage registered earlier this week and had gone to the office of SSP seeking police protection following threats from the parents of the girl.

Both were waiting for their turn to meet the SSP when the girl's parents and relatives allegedly forcibly took away the girl in the despite the presence of security guards and close circuit camera connected to the SSP's room.

SSP Rakesh Aggarwal, while describing the ''incident as a routine happening'' said police parties have been dispatched to arrest the accused and further action would be taken on the statement of the girl.
