HC directs former minister to approach lower court for bail
Chandigarh, Sep 9 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed former Punjab minister Jagjit Singh Chaudhary to approach within seven days the lower court for anticipatory bail in connection with the case registered against him at Amritsar by the state Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The order was passed by Justice K C Puri who also stated that in the event of his anticipatory bail plea being rejected by the lower, the petitioner could then approach the high court within three days from the date of rejection of plea.
The case was registered in relation to the change of land use(CLU) and approval of the plan of the plot which belonged to former minister Darbari Lal Amritsar and his son, and which they had purchased it from Gurcharan Singh former executive engineer of the municipal corporation, Amritsar.
