Ganja plant grower nabbed in Andaman

Port Blair, Sep 9 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar(A&N) police today arrested a person from Hut Bay Islands of Andaman for selling ganja.

Following a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and recovered 200 grams of ganja from a resident at Hut Bay Island, who was identified as Sheehari Mandal.

The raid was carried out in presence of the Executive Magistrate of the region and two independent witnesses, police said adding preliminary investigations revealed that Mandal had grown ganja plant in his garden.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a search in his garden and recovered altogether six ganja plants of heights ranging from two feet to ten feet and weighing 13 kg, Superintendent of Police in Andaman V Renganathan told UNI today.

Police had also registered a case against Mandal, Mr Renganathan added.
