CM ask oil companies to step up cylinders supply
Hyderabad, Sep 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked major Oil companies to step up the supply of LPG cylinders to consumers in the state.
Dr Reddy, who chaired a meeting of the representatives of IOC, HPCL and BPCL asked them to ensure that that all those who applied for LPG during this year be given connection this connections, an official release here said.
The Chief Minister expressed his disappointment over the performance of oil companies for not releasing new connections and supplying the cooking gas cyclinders in time to the consumers.
Asking the oil companies to step up 'Deepam' connections as they fell far short of the target this year, Dr Reddy directed the vigilance department to carry out raids to unearth use of domeastic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose.
The oil companies assured the Chief Minister they would take steps to prevent misuse of domestic cylinders.
The Chief Minister asked the Food and Civil Supplies Minister to rush to Delhi and ensure that five lakh tonnes of rice due from the Centre was released immediately, the release added.
