Alcoholic father kills daughter, arrested

Jalandhar Sept 9(UNI) In a brutal incident an alcoholic father today strangulated his 16-year old daughter to death in Daduwal colony in Nurmahal.

According to police sources, Surinder Pal, a father of seven children, under the influence of liquor strangulated his daughter, Gurpreet to death when she tried to prevent him from beating her mother. The wife picked up a quarrel with her husband after she found that he had sold off the wheat lying in the house to purchase a bottle of liquor.

After killing his daughter, Surinder Pal threatened to kill the other members of the family if they disclosed the truth about the murder of Gurpreet. It was only when the body was being taken for cremation that the mother picked up courage and told her neighbours the truth.

Thereafter a case was registered against Surinder Pal and he was arrested.
